the story behind the vision
In 2004,Dr. Dagan felt the need for medical providers and therefore the great need for access to care not only locally but nationally . The whole Pierce county, located barely 35 miles south of the Greater Seattle area, and its surrounding areas’ rapid growth and economic progress created a glut for medical doctors and health care providers. He then joined the Good Samaritan Community Health System that year to help address this need . It was a few years later that the Multicare Health Care System acquired the then Good Samaritan Community Health System due to its vision of expansion in the Greater Puget Sound. In the midst of the market crash in 2008, Dr. Dagan had a vision to establish an independent “neighborhood” clinic in downtown Sumner, WA and called it “The Cornerstone Medical Clinic”. CMC has been serving not only the Sumner community but also its surrounding areas after it first opened its doors on February 1,2010. Susan MacDonald , MA and Mary E. Dunn joined Dr. Dagan in his vision and later, Blake Dunn joined the staff due to CMC’s growth and the technology aspect of the practice. David Ladzinski brought CMC a much needed support as the in -house accountant and controller in the summer of 2017 . Together, we served and continued to expand on the vision.
Because of the disruptions of the health care ecosystem in the country as a whole and the continued growth and economic progress in the South Puget Sound, there had been challenges along the way –but because of the vision of having a local “neighborhood clinic that caters to the need (s) of its clients ” , we continue to thrive and pursue a simple yet readily accessible quality care for our community. With it, Dr. Dagan also regularly hosted NP and Medical Students from various Medical and Nursing Schools to teach, train and inspire them as they pursue their future career in the industry . Therefore , assisting in developing well rounded health care providers for the future.
In the Fall of 2018, one of his impressive students at that time, Ariana McDonald, who is now a DNP / ARNP, caught the staff’s attention because of her great bedside manner, trusting and caring attitude, intelligence and coachability- which are the core values at CMC , she was welcomed as part of the staff.
We celebrated our 10th year anniversary in February 2020 with the mindset to not only continue with Dr . Dagan’s vision but also pivot during this tumultuous times. The Pandemic of 2020 has tested that vision once again and in 2021, we are re-envisioning what CMC has started to do : to seek ways to address your needs particularly in creating an easy, timely access to readily available and quality care . The centerpiece of what we do remains - YOU.
Thank you.
